AtomEco 2013 strengthens international cooperation
The 7th International AtomEco 2013 Forum was the biggest site for meetings and negotiations of top managers and experts from Russian and international companies engaged in environmental, nuclear and radiation safety, handling of radioactive waste, processing of spent nuclear fuel and decommissioning of facilities with nuclear or radioactive hazards.
Oleg Kryukov, the Director of the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM for public policy in the spheres of radioactive waste, spent nuclear fuel and decommissioning of facilities with nuclear or radioactive hazards held negotiations with the U.S. biggest engineering and construction corporation Bechtel represented by Michael Hughes, the Vice-President, and Igor Lysyakevich, the CEO of Bechtel’s representative office in Russia.
The parties shared opinions on the relevant matters of administration in the sphere of legacy facilities liquidation and discussed possible cooperation areas.
Current achievements in the rehabilitation of facilities with radioactive hazards in the North Western region and future prospects were discussed with Frederick Hassel, the General Director of the Swedish Agency for Radiation Security.
