Participants of the AtomEco Seminar to Discuss International Experience of Creating Final Radioactive Waste Isolation Sites

 

On 31 October, in Moscow, the 7th International Forum AtomEco 2013 will host the seminar “International Experience of Creating Radioactive Waste Isolation Sites: Organizational Structure and Safety Guarantees in Treating Radioactive Waste”. The discussion is initiated and organized by the National Radioactive Waste Treatment Operator.

 

Experts will discuss in the seminar key principles of environmental protection and radioactive safety policies, share expertise in developing organizational, economic and financial models of radioactive waste treatment systems and optimizing transport technology schemes in creating underground radioactive waste isolation sites and discuss variants of cooperation in conducting independent environmental examinations and interacting with the public.

 

The discussion will be attended by representatives of the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (NEA OECD), France’s Agence nationale pour la gestion des déchets radioactifs (ANDRA), Germany’s DBE TECHNOLOGY GmbH, Finland’s Saanio & Riekkola Oy and other experts from the world’s nuclear community interested in sharing information on treatment of radioactive waste.

 

BACKGROUND: In 2012 the International Forum AtomEco 2013 was attended by about 1,000 participants. 56 companies participated in the exhibition. More than 150 speakers with presentations and reports gave talks at round-table discussions and breakout sessions. The event was covered by more than 50 representatives of Russian and foreign mass media.
