7th International AtomEco 2013 Forum. Constructive Discussions of the Zero-Damage Strategy

 

The key topic of the Forum, Nuclear Power Engineering: Zero-Damage Strategy, defined the vector of discussions in the scope of the business program. Active discussions covered the following matters: handling of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel, environmental safety and social acceptability of nuclear power utilization, cooperation in the rehabilitation of facilities with radioactive hazard to name just few.

 

 

Participation of top managers from the State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Natural Resources and Environment, leading nuclear power engineering companies and public environmental organizations ensured an open and relevant dialogue between the state and the public.

 

 

AtomEco 2013 became an effective venue for international negotiations. Key participants of the negotiations were the Nuclear Energy Agency of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD NEA), the Swedish Agency for Radiation Security, U.S. engineering and construction corporation Bechtel, British AMEC.

 

 

The Forum was attended by about one thousand participants from 18 countries. The business program encompassed reports of 296 Russian and foreign top managers and experts. Achievements of 31 companies were presented at the exhibition. The business program comprised 10 section meetings. Media coverage of AtomEco 2013 was provided by 68 representatives of Russian and foreign mass media.
